Men’s Cuticle Care: A Simple, Safe Routine

Clean, healthy-looking cuticles do not require cutting or a complicated routine. The goal is simple: keep the skin around the nail clean, conditioned, and intact.

What cuticles actually do

The cuticle helps seal the space between the nail plate and surrounding skin. That barrier matters. The American Academy of Dermatology advises against cutting cuticles because doing so can make it easier for bacteria to enter and cause infection.

A simple men’s cuticle-care routine

  1. Start clean. Wash and dry your hands, or use Rinse-Free Foaming Hand Wash when a sink is not convenient.
  2. Apply a small amount. Place a drop of Deep Well Cuticle Serum around each nail. More product is not better.
  3. Massage it in. Work the serum into the cuticle line and surrounding skin for 20–30 seconds.
  4. Finish with moisture. If the hands are dry, apply Recovery Hand Lotion with Collagen.

What not to do

  • Do not cut or aggressively push back living cuticle tissue.
  • Do not pull a hangnail. Clip only the loose piece with a clean tool.
  • Do not use shared tools unless they have been properly cleaned and disinfected.

The CDC’s nail-hygiene guidance also recommends keeping nail tools clean and avoiding cuticle cutting. If the skin around a nail becomes increasingly red, swollen, painful, or produces drainage, stop grooming the area and seek medical advice.

How often should you use cuticle serum?

Use it whenever the cuticle area feels dry—daily for consistently dry hands or a few times per week for maintenance. The lightweight, water-based formula is designed to absorb without leaving a heavy oil film.

Build the complete routine

Cuticle care is the maintenance step in the complete men’s hand and nail care routine. If you want every step in one box, start with the 5-Step Men’s Hand & Nail Grooming Kit.

Bottom line: condition the cuticle; do not attack it. A minute of consistent care beats an aggressive cleanup that damages the protective seal.
